Each year, more than 40,000 humpback whales migrate along Australia’s east coast. From May to August, the whales travel north from their Antarctic feeding grounds to the warm tropical waters to give birth. From August onwards, they begin their journey south, often accompanied by their calves, returning to the rich feeding grounds of the Southern Ocean.
